Martina Spisiakova

Born and bred in the beautiful mountains of Slovakia, mountains and mountaineering are in my blood. What began as a hobby fifteen years ago, very soon became a career and my work has included instructing climbing skills to adults and children from beginner through to intermediate level indoors, working with groups of teenagers on Duke of Edinburgh Award trips and days out with adults – challenging themselves on the rock faces of England and learning to put their indoor climbing skills to the test.

One of my speciality areas is running courses for female climbers as they need to work on techniques that utilise strength whilst building on balance and flexibility. I teach a regular bouldering course for women at beginner and intermediate level at my local climbing wall, which is proving to be very popular and gets a lot of positive feedback from the participants.

For my own climbing, whether its ice climbing in Norway, scrambling in Wales, big wall climbing in Yosemite, mountaineering in the Alps, or pushing my grade in sports or traditional climbing, I love it all! Climbing has given me many unforgettable experiences and pushed me to my limits and beyond, giving me a sense of achievement and allowing me to explore the beauty of nature as I go.

As an instructor, I hope to help people enjoy themselves and come home feeling as inspired and passionate about the outdoor life as I do, giving them the chance to have fun and be challenged in safe hands as they learn. My qualifications include the Single Pitch Award, Mountain Leader Award, I have been trained in master class coaching by Neil Grisham and I am currently undergoing training in the Winter Mountain Leader Award and the Mountaineering Instructor Award.
